Thoughts from Strasbourg

It’s Tuesday afternoon:
I am preparing the draft of a short speech to use if I can manage to ‘catch the eye’ of the speaker during question time. In the event – perhaps because I had two full minutes in the morning – I do not get called to speak before I have to go to a meeting for Non-Attached MEPs about changes in the rules on the use of the Communications Allowance. But here it is in any case:
“In response to my speech this morning on the way in which climate changes hysteria is being designed to stampede us all into global governance, Linda McAvan (Labour MEP for Yorks & Humberside) (left) termed this a ‘conspiracy theory’.
“If the Honourable lady would care to watch Herman Van Rompuy’s acceptance speech as President of the European Union, she will see him state openly that “2009 is the first year of global governance with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of the financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step toward the global management of our planet.
“Not only is Mr. Rumpuy well-known as an attendee of the ultra secretive Bilderberg Group, but Catherine Ashton – the EU’s new Foreign Policy head – is intimately linked with the sinister ´post-democratic` governing cadre organisation Common Purpose.
“This global governance conspiracy is no theory; it is an ugly, undemocratic fact.”
Ms McAvan is a long term member of the Federal Trust whose earlier career included a stint as a Labour high-flyer in the bureaucracy of Barnsley Council. Has she any Common Purpose links? Well bears do often shit in the woods, so it wouldn’t be surprising. Any information received with interest.
The lovely Linda was clearly upset by what I had to say, for she has today launched into an extraordinary attack on me on her blog on HYPERLINK “http://www.labourlist.org” www.labourlist.org
While kindly drawing her readers`attention to my speech, and to the fact that UKIP spokesmen followed up by making rather similar noises, she claimed that she had ´unpicked` my arguments. Poor Linda does seem to have some trouble with words, muddling ´governance` with ´government` and that I had said that:
“Man‑made global warming is an unproven theory based on manipulative statistics.”
I used no such words, though substitute ´manipulated` for ´manipulative` and I`d be happy with it. Rather, I quoted expert world climatologist Richard Lindzen who spoke of how the climate change zealots` ´case` rests largely on “gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections.”
The reaction of those posting on her blog is highly instructive as to just how much the British people are waking up to the Warmers` monstrous exercise in manipulation. Poster after poster slams either her or the anthropogenic global warming tale – or both. One asks if she ever reads the feedback, and the answer to that is fairly obvious, for Labour apparatchiks like Linda invariably have even less of a sense of humour than they have commitment to free speech. One gem goes as follows:
Instructions:
Load shotgun.
Stick out foot.
Place business end on foot.
Close eyes.
Pull trigger.
I hope this is not your usual level of debate, you had trouble stringing one word together. No arguments were “unpicked”.

Returning to the subject of the equally lovely Catherine Ashton (now your totally unelected President, on a little under a quarter of a million quid a year) an article in today`s Daily Mail claims that “the security services are said to have put her and kept a file on her” as a suspected Soviet agent before the collapse of state Communism in 1989. Documents seen by the Mail suggest that she was a regular attendee at Communist Party meetings.
Before she was absurdly ennobled, our (or should that be ´their`?) Cathy was Treasurer of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament between 1980 – 1982. CND was extremely secretive about its funding, but when its accounts were finally audited for the first time in 1982-1983, a whacking GBP 176,197 (worth far more today) could not be traced back to its supposed donors. The man responsible for the ánonyomous` portion of CND`s income was one Will Howard, a long-time member of the Communist Party.
The former Russian dissident Vladimir Bukovsky has shown with hundreds of secret documents from Soviet archives that the nuclear disarmament campaigns that sprang up all over the West in that era were largely funded and orchestrated from Moscow.
If Ashton did not know where the money came from she was stunningly incompetent and recklessly negligent. If she did know, then accepting money from a hostile foreign power in order to weaken Britain`s defences makes her a traitor. In either case, it is crystal clear that she is a highly suitable person to be so exalted in the nascent EuSSR – and to face a police inquiry into a prima facie case of treason.
