After taking part in the election of a new parliamentary President, Nick left the chamber and answered questions from a huge press pack.
Responding to a query from The Times as to whether he was upset not to receive an invitation from Baroness Kinnock to tomorrow’s welcoming reception for British MEPs, he said:
“I would choke on canapes and cocktails with Glenys Kinnock!
“She is a political prostitute, it’s as simple as that. She and her husband started off their careers as staunch anti-common market campaigners but now they don’t only have their noses in the trough, they are actually in it, up to their necks.”
However Nick did say that he would be challenging any efforts by civil servants to treat the BNP MEPs differently by denying them access to some information.
“We will test this by applying for information and see what comes back, and take it to court if necessary,” he told journalists.
