AT the European Election count for the North West region at Manchester City Hall on Sunday 7th June 2009, the British National Party polled 132,094 votes which was 8.0% of the total votes cast.
It was enough to ensure that Nick Griffin won the eighth seat on offer and take his place in the European Parliament.

Posters on the bulletin boards in the foyer of the JJB sports gym at Elk Mill in Royton, Oldham asked ‘Do you want to become a firefighter?’
